COHOM documents dealing with human rights in North Korea

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, European Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Council of the European Union,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

1) Documents of COHOM and other EU bodies dealing with the policy towards North Korea covering human rights including meeting reports, correspondence between members of the working group, results of commissioned studies and reports, consultations of corporations in relation to human rights or briefing notes.

2) In particular I am interested in any document of these bodies dealing with the possibility of opening a human rights dialogue with North Korea.

In case you cannot upload all the documents within the two-weeks period, I would be glad if you could supply me first with those documents dealing with the issue of a human rights dialogue and those by COHOM.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Martin Weiser

Postmaster Consilium, European Council
