Meeting with ORGALIME – 13.01.2015

Participants:
ORGALIME Trade Group members, see attachment.
Commission:
 and
, Trade F3.

•  ORGALIME reiterated that they continue to  work in order to establish joint positions
with US sectorial associations, in the sectors of household appliances, machine tools
and lifting equipment. They also continue work with NEMA in order to achieve a more
developed common position.  Commission welcomed this approach as this is a very
effective way to move the discussions forward with the US.

•  ORGALIME announced that they are preparing another mission to the US in the near
future.

•  VDMA representative recalled concerns on standardisation and certification and
insisted on the idea of tackling the issue of certification, in particular regarding the
modernisation of the NRTL scheme and how this could also benefit US industry.

•  Some members requested additional information  about the possible outcomes of the
CEN-CENELEC discussions with ANSI, in particular about deliverables of such
cooperation could undermine ISO and IEC.

•  ORGALIME recalled the Korea certification issue for machinery, in particular on how it
differently impacts foreign manufacturers versus local ones and how it affects providing
their first quote to enter the market.

•  ORGALIME also requested additional information on RoO in the Vietnam FTA and
possible progress on NAMA.
