Dear Mr Buonomo,

Thank you for your interest in the work of the IED Article 13 Forum.

From the information which we received from you and which can be found on the website of your organisation, it is not entirely clear to us how your activities fit with the work of the Forum (i.e. information exchange on industrial processes and techniques in order to develop reference documents laying down best available techniques for industry sectors). So that your application can be considered, you are kindly invited to submit further clarification in this respect, in particular: which industry sector is of particular interest for you, in which BREF adoption process would you foresee active participation, how would that fit within your current activities.

Kind regards,

Gabriella GERZSENYI

Oggetto: RE: Call for application for the selection of NGOs as members of the expert group on the exchange of information on best available techniques

Dear Mr Buonomo,

According to Article 4(1) of Commission Decision establishing the IED forum, "Members shall be Member States, international organisations representing industries concerned by the activities covered by Annex I of the Directive and non-governmental organisations promoting environmental protection. Those organisations shall have an acceptable degree of European representation." Article 4(3) of this Decision stipulates that "New members who are not Member States shall be appointed by the Director General of DG Environment."

In accordance with the above-cited provisions, you are kindly invited to submit an official written request to Mr Karl Falkenberg, Director General of DG Environment. Your request will then be assessed and you will be informed on the result of this assessment. There is no standard application form, it is only important to describe the activities of your organisation (how it would with the Forum's work), to indicate the level of representation (it should be at European level), and to nominate representatives. Attached you will find an example.

You can find more information about the Forum at the following link: http://circa.europa.eu/Public/irc/env/ied/library?l=/ied_art_13_forum&vm=detailed&sb=Title

Kind regards,
