Six weeks after the elections, President-elect Jair Bolsonaro has announced all 22 
ministers of his cabinet, seven more than his initial indications but much less than 
previous governments.

Chambers of Congress for social security, fiscal & economic reforms, as well as for security

PAULO ROBERTO NUNES GUEDES 
MINISTER OF ECONOMY
  
Born in 1949, he graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and received MSc 
and PhD degrees from the University of Chicago. He was professor of economics at the Pontifical 
Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV-EPGE) where he made 
important contributions in financial economics. He is a founder member of IBMEC (a research institution 
dedicated to the study financial economics/financial markets) and Instituto Millenium (a conservative think 
tank focused on wide-ranging issues of government, politics, economics, law and business and social 
welfare). He worked for 35 years in financial markets, as chairman and chief executive officer of several 
investment banks, as well as securities and investment management companies. He was also a regular 
columnist/commentator in several prestigious newspapers on macro-economics, economic policymaking 
and the financial markets.
