Meeting with IOGP: flash report

IOGP on CCUS 28062019.pdf
On 28 June 2019,
,
and
from GROW C2 met with a group from
IOGP (International Association of Oil&Gas Producers):
(IOGP),
(IOGP),
(Shell) and
(Equinor).
IOGP wanted to discuss the potential for CCS and CCU in Europe. There are currently 18 CCS projects
global y up and running but only a couple of them in Europe. To speed up the uptake, the aim is to look
the CCS value chain separated to capture, transport and storage. This would make the process more
manageable for the operators, mitigate risk and help to effectively target incentives and public support.
IOGS is concerned about EU regulations not supporting transportation of CO2: gas directive is limiting
the use of gas-pipelines for this and shipping of CO2 is not recognized under the ETS. The ETS carbon
price should incentivise investments to related infrastructure, interconnectors being crucial. Also,
mandate for transportation should be extended to offshore: currently this is not regulated but offshore
transportation is negotiated as commercial deals.
See more about the IOGP views and policy recommendations in the attached PPt.
