Subject: Follow-up Euractiv debate sustainable finance
Dear
,
Also on behalf of our
I would like to thank you for the active
participation in yesterday’s Euractiv debate on sustainable finance.
As
explained yesterday the products and the solutions of the mechanical
engineering industry enable many other industry sectors to reduce CO2 emissions and
become more sustainable. According to a Boston Consulting Group/VDMA study the
technologies of our members could enable 90% less greenhouse gas emissions in
industrial applications (see study attached). However, looking at the work for sustainable
finance and particularly the EU taxonomy, we are having the impression that this is not
taken sufficiently into account. It would be counterproductive if the manufacturers of
these enabling technologies were penalized either by high interest rates or by increased
bureaucracy due to cumbersome and expensive life-cycle assessments.
We would like to come back to your offer to continue the dialogue on this important
topic with you. Would you be available for a follow-up call/videoconference with our
experts on this topic?
I am looking forward to a positive reply.
Best regards
