MESSAGE
Key messages/Defensives
-
Recovery: Business expectations 2020/21 and evaluation of opportunities in
Next Generation Europe for clean mobility
o We expect the EU economy to contract significantly in 2020. In the first
quarter it contracted by 3.2%.
o National Recovery and Resilience plans to be prepared by the Member
States, on which the Commission will be consulted. They will have to be
aligned with the Green Deal and the Digital agenda.
-
Green Deal: Next steps, outlook on debate 2030 level of ambition, R&I funding
o We need to turn the recovery into an opportunity
o Research and innovation will be essential to strengthen our autonomy
and leadership in value chains (Commission is proposing to reinforce
Horizon Europe)
o We have to continue building on the first success of the European
Battery Alliance to further achieve these objectives.
-
Digitisation: New business models, risks/opportunities on the way to a
conducive regulatory framework for digitisation in mobility
o The EU must ensure its technological sovereignty in the field of
digitalisation.
o Automated/connected vehicles (including key technologies such as
smart cameras, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, 5G, Galileo) could
act as a locomotive for the digital agenda. We wil support this
development.
o We count on CLEPA to contribute to this process and flag any action
that could help.
