Dear Mr Teffer,

Subject:      Your application for access to documents – Ref GestDem No

We refer to your e-mail dated 18/04/2018 in which you make a request for
access to documents, registered on 19/04/2018 under the above mentioned
reference number.

Your application is currently being handled. However, we will not be in a

accordance with Article 7(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding
public access to documents.

The new time limit expires on 07/06/2018.

We apologise for this delay and for any inconvenience this may cause.

Dear Sir, Madam,

Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Consultation forum', registered on 19/04/2018 under reference number GestDem 2018/2193.

The Consultation Forum was set up, according to the commission, “with the European defence industry to best align the supply and the demand sides”. However, the public is left in the dark completely as to what is being discussed.

The Commission has politically committed to transparency over its meetings with corporate interests groups, but apparently does not want to apply those commitments to the Consultation Forum.

The reason for not disclosing the documents is that they “relate to the EU defence and public security policy” and therefore disclosure would undermine the protection of the EU defence and public security.

This is too broadly formulated to be acceptable, and gives the impression this reason is used gratuitously. How exactly would disclosure undermine the protection of EU defence, and why does this merit a blanket secrecy over what is effectively a format for corporations to lobby?

All the best,
Peter Teffer

Dear Madam, Sir,

In reference to my application registered on 19/04/2018 under reference number GestDem 2018/2193: something went wrong when you send me the letter replying to my application. You said a document 9 would be enclosed, but it was not. Could you please resend that document?

Thanks
Peter Teffer
