Correspondence on the suspension of rebroadcasting of television programmes

The authority would like to / has responded by postal mail to this request.

Dear Communications Networks, Content and Technology,

On the 8th of April, 2015, the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (LRTK) adopted a decision to temporarily suspend the rebroadcasting of the whole television “RTR Planeta” on the territory of Lithuania. The LRTK has publicly stated that before taking this decision has consulted and notified the European Commission about the suspected violations and the intended measures.

A week ago it was announced that the LRTK will apply the same procedure to another television programme „NTV Mir Lithuania“ and has already notified the European Commission on this matter as well.

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, and taking into consideration the procedure set on the Article 3 of the Directive 2010/13, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

- all correspondence between the European Commission and the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission, concerning the television programmes “RTR Planeta” and „NTV Mir Lithuania“;

- the European Commission's decision on the compatibility of notified measures with the European law, regarding the decision of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission to suspend the rebroadcasting of the television programme “RTR Planeta”.

Best regards,

Raminta Sulskute
