Generaldirektion Regionalpolitik und Stadtentwicklung

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your message via [1]www.asktheeu.org. Your request
for information has been transferred to our unit in the Directorate
General for Regional Policy and Urban Development as it is the responsible
unit for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and its
interventions in Germany.
However I regret to inform you that the data that you request are not at
our disposal. The former German Democratic Republic (GDR) did not receive
any support of the ERDF or any assistance of the European Community.
Moreover the Directorate General for Regional Policy and Urban Development
does not possess economic indicators such as prices of products in the
GDR. In your message you also ask for information regarding the
reunification of Germany after 1989 and in explicit on privatisation and
the Treuhandanstalt. Although there have been European initiatives on
structural reforms in Germany the European Commission did not grant help
for any privatisation schemes comparable to the Treuhandanstalt.
Therefore I suggest that you contact the responsible German authorities
among others the German Historic Museum or the House of the History of the
Federal Republic of Germany: [2]http://www.dhm.de/lemo/

Kind regards,

Eric Dufeil
