NEAR-ACCDOC@ec.europa.eu,

Dear Mr Nielsen,

As mentioned in our previous communication, the request for access to
documents you submitted on 23 January 2024 and registered under reference
number EASE 2024/0893 is currently being handled by Colleagues in the
house as a request for information.

Kindly be informed that the European Commission differentiates between
request for information and request for access to documents.

A request for information is addressed to and handled by the Competent
unit in DG NEAR responsible for the concrete program/project you are
asking for. Requests for information shall be handled under the [1]Code of
Good Administrative Behaviour.

On the other hand, with a request for access to documents under the
Regulation 1049/2001, DG NEAR will not provide information but will share
documents, if they exist, that may match what you are asking for. Please
note that the Regulation 1049/2001 concerns only documents in possession
of the Commission and does not require the Commission to create new
documents in order to meet a given request, not even by compiling
information from other existing documents. Requests for access to
documents are submitted via the online portal [2]EASE.

With your agreement we will proceed with closing the request for access to
documents and process it as a request for information.

Thank you in advance for your kind feedback.

Yours sincerely,

NEAR ACCDOC Team

Nikolaj Nielsen

Dear Migration and Home Affairs,

Does this mean I now need to start the process again or is it being automatically handled as a request for information by your internal services?

Yours faithfully,
