I would like to receive information on CSR regulations on European Union Level.

Europäische Wirtschafts- und Sozialausschuss hat geantwortet, dass Sie eine andere öffentliche Körperschaft kontaktieren müssen.

Katharina Zipelius

Dear European Economic and Social Committee,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

What regulations on CSR incorporated in EU law, and to what extent are these binding or recommandary? (Eg. Regulation vs. Directive) Are there certain obligations for all companies in the EU on CSR? Eg. reports, documents, transparency? I am aware of the Human Charter, which includes several requirements on equal treatment of employees, but I was wondering if there are any specific legislation concerned with CSR requirements. In particular, I am interested in (court) cases, where German regulations contradicted the EU law (or vice versa).

Yours faithfully,
Katharina Zipelius

Dear Katharina Zipelius,

Thank you for your questions!

However, as the EESC has not been working on CSR since 2012 (opinion attached), I believe you have more chances to get answers if you contact the EC directly.
As I cannot find a unit dedicated to CSR in the DG EMPL organisational charter, I would suggest that you contact one of the following directors, who might be able to direct you to the right unit:
Barbara Kaufmann (Social governance and employment), Stefan Olsson (Employment) or Georg Fischer (Social Affairs).

With kind regards,
Judite Berkemeier

EESC Secretariat
