Dear Mrs Musch,

We acknowledge receipt of your request for correspondence and minutes of
meetings on the deforestation action plan and due diligence on forest risk
commodities, including the four inter-service group meetings held between
december 2018 and March 2019.

The “Communication on Stepping up EU action to protect and restore the
world’s forests” (which was still called “Deforestation Action Plan” at
the time) was covered in the 63^rd Meeting of the Inter-Service Group on
Forestry of 15 November 2018. The minutes of that meeting are attached.
The topic was not covered under the 64^th Meeting of the ISG on Forestry
of 27 February 2019 (which falls within your period of concern).

A sub-group to the Inter-Service Group on Forestry, especially dedicated
to Deforestation, met on 29 January 2019. The minutes of that meeting are
attached too. No official minutes were made of the subsequent meetings of
the ISG on Deforestation which took place on 19 February and 15 March
2019. Not even for internal Commission use. Those meetings were set up to
discuss progress on the drafting of the Communication.

As you are asking for minutes of meetings where deforestation was
discussed (not only the ISG meetings), I attach the summary records of the
two EUTR/FLEGT Expert Group meetings that took place during your period of
concern and in which the Communication was mentioned. These minutes are
also available on the public [1]Register of Expert Group of the
Commission.

You will find all the relevant information about the Communication on our
dedicated [2]webpage on EUROPA.

Regarding correspondence on the Communication, please find attached the
reply to a letter from MEP Hautala to President Juncker. We also attach
the reply to a letter signed by 9 civil society organisations. Under the
data protection rules, we are unfortunately not allowed to send you the
initial letters.

We hope that this answers your queries.

Best regards,
