Dear European Parliament,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
Now that the uk is about to leave the eu and uk's MEPs have left, what pension is an ex-UK MEP with, say the length of service of an MEP such as Nigel Farage, be eligible for.

Dear Mr Senior,
The Citizens’ Enquiries Unit of the European Parliament (EP) has received
your message regarding the pensions of Nigel Farage former MEP.
Since the entry into force of the [1]Statute for Members on 14 July 2009,
all Members of the European Parliament are entitled to an old-age pension
at the age of 63 after a minimum 12 months of mandate. However, Members
who belonged to Parliament prior to the entry into force of the Statute
and were re-elected in 2009 were given the possibility to opt for the
national system in respect of salary, transitional allowance and pensions
for the entire duration of their European mandate.
As information about individual pension rights falls under [2]Regulation
(EC) No 45/2001 on the protection of individuals with regard to the
processing of personal data, the European Parliament cannot provide any
lists of EU pension beneficiaries or other information regarding the
entitlements of named individuals.
Further information regarding MEPs and their rights is available on the
Europarl webpages concerning [3]MEPs, as well as the [4]Frequently Asked
Questions to the Parliament's Press Service.
Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are entitled to an old-age
pension from the age of 63, in accordance with the [5]Statute for Members
(Article 14).
This pension equals 3.5% of the salary for each full year's exercise of a
mandate, but not more than 70 % in total. An additional pension scheme,
introduced for MEPs in 1989, was closed to new Members from July 2009 and
is being phased out.
MEPs receive the same salary, which is set as 38.5% of the basic salary of
a judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union.
As of July 2018, the monthly pre-tax salary of MEPs is 8 757.70 euros.
This salary is subject to tax for the benefit of the European Union and
insurance contributions, after which the salary is 6 824.85 euros. In a
number of EU countries, it is also subject to a national tax.
MEPs who held a mandate in the Parliament before the 2009 elections could
opt to keep the previous national system for salary, transitional
allowance and pensions, for the entire duration of their membership of the
European Parliament.
Nigel Farage’s Parliamentary history is detailed on [6]his profile page.
We thank you for contacting the European Parliament.
Yours sincerely,
Citizens' Enquiries Unit
