Our ref.: A(2018)4013

Dear Mr Selianko,

Trilogue negotiations very often take place between Parliament, the
Council and the European Commission so that they can  reach an agreement
at an early stage of the legislative procedure.

Such process is indeed envisaged for the legislative procedure Respect for
private life and the protection of personal data in electronic
communications 2017/0003(COD), the procedure you are interested in.
However, the Council has still not set its general approach in this file.
The general approach serves as the basis for the inter-institutional
negotiations.

Since negotiations have not started yet, no multicolumn table has been
established so far in the procedure.

At this point on time, it is not possible to tell when the Council will
set this approach and therefore when the negotiations will start.

Nevertheless, Parliament identified documents relevant to your request.
The first multicolumn tables, in the event that any is established in this
file, which is likely, will reflect the initial positions of the three
institutions in the negotiations. The initial position of the Commission
will be its legislative proposal (attached for your convenience). And
Parliament's will be the  position it has adopted in plenary on 23 October
2017 on the basis of the committee report (attached for your convenience).

You can also follow the legislative procedure from this link,

2017/0003(COD).

In view of the foregoing, Parliament considers that it has handled your
application and thereby closes the file. But please do not hesitate to
come back to us, with a new application, should the situation change or
should you be interested in getting access to other documents.

Sincerely,
