UKIP MEP salaries, expenses and allowances

Ihre Anfrage war teilweise erfolgreich.

Dear European Parliament,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

The total amount paid by the European Parliament and other EU bodies to UKIP MEPs in salary, expenses and allowances – as well as any other form of miscellaneous remunerations – over the past 15 years, or as far back as data exists for this.

If it is possible to receive this data in an itemised format this would be preferable.

The data I would like includes any form of remuneration paid to the UKIP MEPs listed below, but is not limited to them. I would like data for any other MEPs who have represented UKIP in the European Parliament but are not listed below as well.

Nigel Farage
John Stuart Agnew
Marta Andreasen
Gerard Batten
Godfrey Bloom
John Bufton
Derek Roland Clark
Trevor Colman
William Dartmouth
Roger Helmer
Mike Nattrass
Paul Nuttall

I would also like records of non-attendance at all Parliamentary votes and other business sessions (both plenary and non-plenary) for the members listed above.

If available, I would also like to request any records of disciplinary measures, censure, or other related action taken against the members listed above.

Yours faithfully,

Alan Selby

Dear Mr Selby,

The Citizens´ Enquiry Service of the European Parliament received your
request of 8th November 2012, for multiple information on MEPs salaries,
expenses and allowances, miscellaneous remunerations, records of
non-attendance and records of disciplinary measures.

In response to your request for information on salary, attendance in
plenary and disciplinary measures for MEPs, we would like to provide you
with the following links:

- MEPs   salary:

Since 2009 the monthly salary amount paid by the European Parliament is
the same for all MEPs. More information on exact amounts related to salary
and allowances available to MEPs can be found here (please scroll down to
bottom of the page):

[1]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/aboutparli...

For your information, the salary level is based on 38.5% of the basic
salary of a judge at the European Court of Justice and is changed in line
with that salary. The monthly salary received by MEPs will vary according
to the monthly exchange rate for countries outside the euro zone.

UK MEPs must also pay National Insurance contributions under the UK
system.

Prior to July 2009 MEP s were paid at the equivalent rate to MPs in the
country they represented, which led to huge discrepancies between MEPs
from different countries.

- Attendance in plenary:

The names of Members present at each sitting of the EP plenary are
recorded in the minutes of each sitting.

However, for any aggregated figures relative to MEP s' attendance in
plenary (roll-call votes only), Parliament would recommend that you refer
to the independent organisation Votewatch. Below you will find a direct
link to statistics compiled for the UK Members of the EFD Group (i.e.
UKIP):

The names of Members present in EP Committee votes are recorded in the
Minutes of all Committee meetings. Therefore please refer to the EP
Committee to which the MEP is a member:

- Disciplinary measures:

All disciplinary measures to be taken in the event of non-compliance with
the standards of conduct of Members are laid out in Rules 152 and 153 of
the EP Rules of Procedure:

As for the concerned MEPs you mention, any references to disciplinary
measures that may have been taken by the EP in the above regard can be
consulted by performing a name search in the public Minutes of the
Parliament's Bureau meetings, found in the EP register of documents:

You will find an example below:

For more detailed information relative to your request, please contact the
MEP concerned:

We trust that the above information replies adequately to your questions
and we thank you for communicating with the European Parliament.

Best regards,
