Your application for access to documents – GESTDEM 2021/8061
Dear Ms Da Silva,
We refer to your e-mail of 12 December 2021 in which you make a request for access to
documents, registered under the above mentioned reference number.
Thank you for your request concerning the Proposal for a Regulation of the European
Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonized rules on artificial intelligence
(Artificial Intelligence Act) and amending certain Union legislative acts presented on 21
April 2021 (COM( 2021) 206 final). Please be informed that neither Commissioner
Johansson nor members of her Cabinet nor Directorate General Migration and Home
Affairs of the European Commission asked EU Agencies to provide dedicated input,
feedback, comments or analysis as regards the development of the proposal referred to
before. This proposal seeks to improve the functioning of the internal market by laying
down a uniform legal framework in particular for the development, marketing and use of
artificial intelligence in conformity with Union values. The proposal covers law
enforcement as one of many areas. You therefore have already been rightly in contact
with the Directorate General Communication Networks, Content and Technology of the
European Commission.
EU Agencies have however addressed artificial intelligence related topics, including the
proposal referred to above, on their own initiative. If you are interested in these
comments you may wish to consult the websites of relevant EU Agencies (see e.g.
www.eulisa.europa.eu/search/Pages/results.aspx?k=artificial%20intelligence
of
the
European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in
the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA)) respectively address relevant EU
Agencies directly.
Yours sincerely,
Electronically signed
