Subject: Meeting on Supply Chain Transparency & Solar
Dear Ms Skonieczna,
Following the reports on forced labour involved in the solar supply chain,
SolarPower Europe is working together with DNV to develop a tool to increase
supply chain transparency. We would like to organise an online meeting to
exchange on this issue with you and your colleagues from Commissioner Breton’s
cabinet and representatives of DG GROW, as you advise.
We would propose a 1 hour meeting, with the following agenda:
• Update by SolarPower Europe (15 minutes)
o The European solar market: ambitions and targets
o Supply chain transparency in the solar industry
o Identifying alternative sources of supply and briefing on the situation of
the domestic manufacturing industry and the European Solar
Initiative
o Increasing supply chain transparency and sustainability – presentation
of SolarPower Europe's ongoing project to develop a supply chain
monitoring programme
• Update by the European Commission on the Sustainable Corporate Governance
initiative and the proposed instrument to ban products made with forced
labour (15 minutes)
• Discussion (30 minutes)
I am looking forward to your feedback and hope a meeting can be organised in
the next weeks.
Kind regards,
M
E
