Dear Mr.
,

Thank you.

To comply with the EC security rules, could you please be so kind to send me your ID numbers
for our VPASS?

Also, please be aware that a COVID safe ticket will be requested to enter the Berlaymont.

I’ll prepare the outlook invitation as soon as I have the ID data.

Kind regards and I stay available if needed.

Dear Mr.
,

Further to your email and regarding the meeting request with Ms.
, could you please be so
kind to let us know if a virtual meeting works on your side? Or do you prefer a face-to-face
meeting?

The 24/11 afternoon works well for Ms.
. Could we agree on 15h00 to 15h45?

Thank you in advance,

Kind regards,

Dear Mrs
,

Thank you for your prompt response to our paper. Of course we greatly value the support of
your Commissioner and your cabinet/MOVE services in taking the concerns of our sector into
account. You are right by pointing out that the different proposals, relevant to aviation, are dealt
with in different DG’s in the Commission, Committees in the Parliament and Council Working
Groups, so it is crucial to maintain an overall view and assessment on what the total impact will
be, in terms of costs, but also CO2 reduction potential and carbon leakage effects.

We’d be happy to have a meeting with you to go over these sustainability issues and other issues
that are relevant to us.
Would 24 November in the afternoon be convenient to you?

Wishing you a nice weekend,
Best regards

Dear Mr
,

Also on behalf of
, I would like to thank you very much for your email and for sharing your
positions on the Fit for 55 package adopted last July.

Your engagement is of utmost importance to achieve our common goal of achieving net-zero
CO2 emissions by 2050.

We particularly appreciate your support to the ReFuelEU proposal aimed at increasing the
production, supply and uptake of sustainable aviation fuels, which, as you know, was prepared
by DG MOVE under the helm of Commissioner Valean, and which we consider to be the most
important tool to decarbonise aviation in the near-term.

As we did throughout the preparation of the package, our Cabinet and DG MOVE will continue to
pay utmost attention to the specific situation of air transport, and to ensure as much as possible
that this is appropriately reflected across all proposals, also as these are negotiated among the
co-legislators. Your views are important in this respect, and we thank you for sharing them.

As the member of Cabinet in charge of air transport, I remain at your disposal should you or your
Brussels colleagues wish to discuss these issues further.

Kind regards,

European Commission
Member of Cabinet
Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean

Dear
,

In March this year we already talked on the upcoming Green Deal

proposals. I’m not sure the words Fit for 55 were already ‘in use’. In any
case we wanted to share with you and your colleagues our point of view on
the Fit for 55 proposals that mostly impact the aviation sector. This view is
reflected in the attached position paper.

You will see that we are pleased with many of the proposals, many of which
are in line with our Destination 2050 Roadmap that we as the wider
aviation sector in Europe presented in February this year and that shows a
concrete pathway to net-zero CO2 emissions from aviation in 2050.

We support proposals such as ReFuelEU as long as the SAF is truly
sustainable and becomes more affordable, but are not supporting the
introduction of a kerosene tax which does not help to make our sector
more sustainable. All in all the proposals will lead to a substantial cost
increase for EU airlines and we feel that carbon leakage effects are not
sufficiently considered, especially as aviation is not in the CBAM.

Of course we invite you to consider our position for future EC handlings and
we stand ready to answer all questions you or your colleagues may have.
I copy my colleagues from our BRU team,
 for KLM and
 for Air France-KLM.

All the best
