Key points discussed :
-On prices, discussions on short term measures and more long views. DDG explains next steps of work on optimisation
of electricity market design.
-On infrastructure needs, ENGIE in favour of performing cost-benefit analysis to ensure financial viability of projects (eg
Midcat pipeline), in view of avoiding overcapacity.
-On volume, support for RES ambition of REPowerEU and permitting guidance/go-to-areas. Exchange about the
resilience of the FR electricity system (amongst others due to the ongoing and upcoming maintenance of nuclear park).
Hybrid heat pumps to be favoured in the roll-out. Current issue with international supply chains, ENGIE experiences
delayed deployment of RES projects due to component availability.
-Welcome REPowers’s biomethane targets (35bcm by 2030), and encouraged anchorage in legislation (RED recast)
-On decarbonisation of gas and H2 package, regret strict unbundling rules. 3rd party access is key. MW noted the
importance of supporting the nascent H2 market, and explained reasoning behind the additionality DA.
