Dear Mr Fanta, 
We refer to your email of 25 April 2022 with which you introduced a request for access 
to documents, registered on 2 May 2022 under the above-mentioned reference number. 
By your application, you requested access to the following: 
Under  the  right  of  access  to  documents  in  the  EU  treaties,  as  developed  in  Regulation 
1049/2001  as  well  as  under  2003/4/EC,  I  am  requesting  documents  which  contain  the 
following information: 

- All documents regarding a March 14 meeting between officials at DG ENV, DG CNCT 
and DG ENER as well as member state representatives on a possible initiative on crypto-
currency  (Bitcoin)  mining  using  the  proof-of-work  method.  My  request  is  meant  to 
include e-mails, meeting minutes and other documents relating to the initiative. 

Due to the scope of your request, it has also been attributed to the Directorates-General 
for  Communications  Networks,  Content  and  Technology  (DG  CNECT)  under  request 
GestDem  2022/2474  and  to  Directorate-General  for  Environment  (DG  ENV)  under 
request GestDem 2022/2429.  
DG  CNECT,  in  lead  of  the  meeting  of  14  March,  replied  to  your  request  under  their 
remit,  identifying  and  disclosing  the  copy  of  the  following  document  with  reference 
ARES(2022)4403702 of 15/06/2022: 
 Initiative on bitcoin/proof of work meeting of 14 March 2022  
This is to confirm that DG ENER has no additional documentation falling in the scope of 
your request.
