I regret to inform you that the Commissioner’s agenda will unfortunately not allow a
participation.
Concerning the invitation to the hub.berlin2023 in June next year, it is too early to make a

Dear Maurits-Jan,
We hope you had an enjoyable weekend and would like to thank you for taking the time last
week to talk so openly about the various topics. For us, the exchange was very helpful and
informative, and we hope that you found it valuable, too.
The position paper focused on the cloud chapter of the data act that I mentioned briefly, will
be finalized this week. I am happy to share it with you if this is of interest.
Moreover, we have mentioned our two flagship events:

This year’s Smart Country Convention will take place from
18 October to 20 October
2022 in Berlin (hub27, Messe Berlin, Jafféstraße 2, 14055 Berlin, Germany). It is the
leading trade fair congress for the digitization of the public sector, touching upon
various topics such as smart cities & regions, digital sovereignty, government
resilience, e-government and digital justice. We expect
more than 400 speakers
and over 13,000 participants throughout the three days. Commissioner Breton did
hold a keynote speech two years ago and it would be an honor if we could welcome
him again to talk for example about the digital resilient and sovereign state.

The hub.berlin2023 will take place on 28 and 29 June 2023 in Berlin. Our business
tech festival brings together global CEOs, entrepreneurs, political leaders, and
industry experts to talk about future trends and challenges. This year we had more
than
200 speakers, 5,000+ participants, 150 sessions, and three stages.
Companies can also showcase their newest innovations. As Commissioner Breton
has a profound business background and shapes in his current function the legal
framework, we would be very honored if the Commissioner could open this business
festival.
We are aware of the Commissioner’s busy schedule. Nevertheless, we would be happy to
welcome him again to one of our flagship events as it would send a strong signal that the
digital transformation process must be thought European and that innovation is a core
element to strengthen the European digital single market.
We would very much appreciate your feedback on whether such a keynote speech would be
of interest to the Commissioner and we would also be happy to discuss any further
arrangements for the agenda that might be interesting for the Commissioner, such as
background talks with executives from the Bitkom membership.
Moreover, if you need information on different policy files like the Data Act or different
industry sectors concerning digital transformation processes, please do not hesitate to reach
out to us. We are happy to share any information that is needed.
