2017 Legal Opinion on maximum residue limit

Under the right of access to documents in the EU Treaties, laid down in Regulation 1049/2001, and as MEPs, we ask for the documents containing this information:

The minutes of the meeting of 12 and 13 June 2017 of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (SCOPAFF) mention in point A19 the existence of a legal opinion drawn up by your service. It advises the Commission to favour a hazard-based approach leading to the lowering of the limit of detection of pesticide residues and to the refusal of new applications for import tolerances.

Parliament, Council and Commission documents (OJ L 145, 31.05.2001, page

Your request is currently being handled. However, in view of the number
and nature of the requests for access to documents the Legal Service is
dealing with and given the extraordinary situation due to the coronavirus,
our services are presently working with limited resources.

 

In this context, we will not be in a position to complete the processing
of your request within the time limit of 15 working days, which expires
today, the 30 March 2020.

 

For this reason, we will need to extend the time limit by 15 working days,
in accordance with Article 7(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001. The new
