SECURITY AT THE HEART OF MARITIME
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
3rd International Symposium on Maritime Surveillance
Air/Land/Sea
Toulon, 30th September and 1st October 2013
The 2013 symposium is supported by Frédéric CUVILLIER, Minister for
Transport, Marine Affairs and Fisheries and by Michel AYMERIC, Secretary
General for the Sea.
This European event was initiated in 2011 by the
Mediterranean Sea competitiveness cluster which has a
global vocation. SeaTIMed / SPACEMAR is greatly
expanding the scope of its areas of discussion in this 3rd
symposium and including Air and Land considerations in
addition to Maritime factors. This large international
gathering brings together expert key players in these
fields.
A SYMPOSIUM ON THE PROTECTION OF THE COAST, THE SEA AND ITS PROFESSIONAL AND
PUBLIC USERS.
90% of world trade is by sea, 45% of it in Europe. Maritime borders are vast and the strategic
issues in the Mediterranean represent a microcosm of international issues. Toulon is at the heart of Mediterranean Provence and is France’s top naval defence base;
it will host this 3rd event which, thanks to its Mediterranean focus, will prepare for future
safety and security at sea across all levels of usage: European agencies, states, military and
port authorities, commercial bodies as well as professional and leisure sailing.
WITH A GLOBAL ANNUAL TURNOVER OF 1,500 BILLION, THE SEA IS A MAJOR
INDUSTRIAL AND ECONOMIC ISSUE FOR FRANCE AND FOR EUROPE.
2 DAYS, 4 THEMES, 7 ROUND TABLES AND MORE THAN 100
GLOBAL EXPERTS…
discussing how to bring environmental standards into
alignment, to protect the seas and oceans and ensure the
sustainable development of the maritime economy.
