Dear Madam,
We thank you very much for your answer, a meeting in French will indeed be more convenient
for INTERBEV representatives.
We take the opportunity of this email to send you the different analysis elaborated by INTERBEV
as regard the ongoing TTIP negotiations:
They relate, more precisely, to:
- the potential impacts of a free trade agreement with the US in terms of direct and indirect job
losses in France (“Volet Emploi”), as well as on the European livestock model as such (“Volet
Sociétal”).
- the most sensitive tariff lines of bovine meats which the sector considers as essential to protect
during these negotiations (“Volet Tarifaire”).
These documents are in French. We will send you the English versions by Thursday.
Do not hesitate to contact us for any further information you may need.

Dear
l,

Following a meeting we had yesterday in Paris with INTERBEV representatives, we are
pleased to inform you that M. Marc Pagès, Director-General of INTERBEV, will also
participate to the meeting with Mrs Asenius on January 26th (5.30 pm).
Will therefore be present: M. Langlois (President), M. Pagès (DG),

(INTERBEV
),
 (Alinea).

You will find attached the requested information to ensure access to the Commission’s
premises.

Finally, I would like to check a practical issue as regard our appointment: M. Pagès and
Mr Langlois do not speak English. I therefore wonder whether Mrs Asenius does speak
French or not?

If not, would you be assisted by somebody, on your side, to provide translation from
English to French?
and myself would be able to provide translation from INTERBEV
representatives' interventions (in French) towards English to the attention of Mrs Asenius.

I am looking forward to reading you.
Do not hesitate to contact us for any further information you may need.
Kind regards.

Dear

Confirmation well received – thank you very much.

Kind regards,

INTERBEV is the French Interbranch organisation for Livestock
and Meats, recognised by the state since 1980. It is composed of 20
federations and trade unions, representing the whole livestock and
meats sector. Its role is to defend and promote the interests of French
livestock farmhouses, industrial and commercial activities of the beef,
cattle, sheep and equine sectors.
Since 2014, INTERBEV has been working intensively on different
analysis of potential impacts on the livestock sector of a free trade
agreement with the US. This work focus on the European livestock
model which is likely to be endangered by an FTA, provide an
estimate of direct and indirect job losses in France and identify the
most sensitive tariff lines to be protected during the final
negotiations.
In this context, Mr Langlois, President of the association, would be
pleased to present you the main conclusions of these analysis and
initiate an exchange of views on the EU position as regard the
protection of the European livestock sector. As Mr Langlois will be in
Brussels on Tuesday 26 January, he would be available for a meeting
in the afternoon, after 3.15 pm. Obviously, if such schedule would
not be convenient for you, we would welcome any alternative.
We thank you very much for your consideration.
We are looking forward to reading you.
Yours sincerely.
