Commissioner Phil Hogan
European Commission
via e-mail
Dear Commissioner Hogan,
as the AFCC Agri-Food Chain Coalition had to re-schedule the planned event with MEP Anthea
McIntyre due to a clash with an extraordinary Committee meeting, I allow myself to herewith
re-send our invitation.
You will recall that the event is organized specifically in view of Mrs McIntyre’s draft report on
‘Technological solutions to sustainable agriculture in the EU’ which was just adopted by the EP’s
COMAGRI .
The AFCC and its 11 EU level member associations are strongly supportive of Mrs McIntyre’s
initiative to address innovation more broadly as a means to address and successfully contribute
to numerous overarching policy objectives.
We would like to demonstrate this support and discuss ways forward in implementing some of
the draft report’s recommendations.
Consequently, we have invited the Members of the EP’s Committee for Agriculture as well as
relevant Conseillers of political groups and the Committee’s secretariat for a dinner debate (v.
programme below).
We would be delighted if the new timetable may allow you to accept our invitation and to
attend this important event and to address the meeting with your personal comments.
Please note that in view of the cross-cutting nature of the subject, a similar invitation will also
be extended to your colleague Commissioner Moedas.
The AFCC sees a strong relation between the event organized at the Milan EXPO last year which
you addressed as well and this concrete initiative of Mrs McIntyre.
It would be a pleasure to get your views and insight into this debate to help innovation being
positively embraced by the EP in its final vote on this report.
Please feel free to have your Cabinet contacting me at any time in case you would like to receive
further details.
Sincerely, yours
AFCC
