Poland

Dear Ms. Bieńkowska,

I wish to take the opportunity to share positive news concerning new
investment by British American Tobacco (BAT) in the major expansion of our
manufacturing facility located in Augustow, Poland. The expansion has seen the
plant increase by more than 8,000 square metres, with the production of
cigarettes increasing from 36billion to 50billion sticks per year.
This expansion was celebrated with a dedicated launch which welcomed
esteemed guests

Poland is a vital centre of economic activity for BAT since 1991. BAT employs
almost 3,400 people in Poland. Between 2012 - 2016 these activities
contributed more than PLN 27.5 billion to the Polish state budget.
This new investment in Augustow represents a major opportunity for the social
and economic development of the entire region and we are confident that this
expansion will build even further on this success.
I am also pleased to share that Chic, BAT’s subsidiary company in Poland,
produces e-liquids and sells electronic cigarettes through specialist stores in
Poland. These innovative products are an increasingly important part of BAT’s
portfolio, since they offer consumers the potential to reduce the risks
associated with smoking by up to 95%, according to independent medical
bodies such as Public Health England (PHE).
You may also wish to know that BAT is active in Brussels with a dedicated team
working on EU affairs. I would be delighted to inform you further on our
operations and to answer any questions you might have about our next
generation products. We would highly appreciate the opportunity for a bilateral
meeting to explore even further the future opportunities that may arise.

Yours sincerely,
