April update on Milk

ECHO Milk April 2017.pdf
Ciao,

Please find attached the update for April on milk.

A report on loss is provided: “a total of 0.668 MT of milk (one pallet) was destroyed in April by WFP, due to the
expired shelf life by the time the quantity was cleared by the authorities”.

This information was provided informally in past week. And is in line with constraints faced over the initial months of
the distribution (see previous reports). Any further information to be provided?

As final comment the milk distribution will end by second week of May (end of School year), and start again in last
quarter 2017 (in order to fit with new school year and avoid storage of milk during the hottest month).

WFP does not foresee issues similar to the ones faced this year.
No update at this stage on the possibility for distribution at XB level. Clearly, the issue of handling of this item is a
concern for WFP, as well as identification of partner schools.

We can talk if needed.

Best regards
