Meeting with Transport & Environment on MIC | Flash
COM (

) met Transport & Environment (T&E) on 31 January
2018 to discuss issues related to the multilateral investment court (MIC) project.
T&E sought an update on the UNCITRAL process and enquired about COM's expectations for the
April 2018 meeting of Working Group III. The state of play and the importance of developing
countries engagement in the process were discussed. Reference was made to the UNCITRAL trust
fund for travel assistance. T&E recalled that it is still trying to obtain observer accreditation at
UNCITRAL, which COM has flagged to UNCITRAL. The involvement of the UNCITRAL Commission
and UN General Assembly in light of the mandate of Working Group III was discussed.

T&E also sought clarifications on COM's upcoming meetings with stakeholders and a possible
Sustainability Impact Assessment.
