under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 - GESTDEM 2020/4439 

Dear Ms Gerebizza, 
I refer to  your e-mail of 23 September  2020, registered on the same day, in which you 
submitted a confirmatory application, in accordance with Article 7(2) of Regulation (EC) 
No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission 
documents1 (hereafter ‘Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001’).  
Your  confirmatory  application  was  submitted  in  relation  to  your  initial  application  of  
17 July 2020, addressed to the Directorate‑ General for Energy, whereby you requested 
access to, I quote: 
  ‘all  correspondence  (including  email)  between  1  December  2018  and  12  July  
2020  between  Commissioner  Simson  and/or  her  cabinet  and/or  officials  from  
DG Energy on one hand and  representatives from IOGP, Shell, the Global CCS 
Institute,  Hydrogen  Europe,  Snam  and  Fleishman  Hillard,  in  which  the  issue  of 
hydrogen and/or carbon capture and storage (CCS) were addressed; 
  list  of  meetings  on  these  topics  that  took  place  between  1  December  2018  and  
12  July  2020  between  officials  and  representatives  of  DG  Energy  on  one  hand 
and  representatives  from  IOGP,  Shell,  the  Global  CCS  Institute,  Hydrogen 
Europe, Snam and Fleishman Hillard on the other; and 
  the minutes of the meetings mentioned above.’

As  you  did  not  receive  the  reply  from  the  above-mentioned  Directorate-General  within 
the  statutory  time  limits,  you  submitted,  on  23  September  2020,  the  confirmatory 
application.  
I  note, however, that on  27 October  2020,  the Directorate-General  for Energy provided 
you the reply to your initial application.     
As  the  Directorate-General  for  Energy  has  in  the  meantime  sent  you  a  full  reply  to  
your  application,  the  Secretariat-General  will  close  this  confirmatory  application.  
Please  note  that  this  is  without  prejudice  to  your  right  to  submit  a  new  confirmatory 
application if you do not agree with the position of the Directorate-General for Energy, as 
reflected in its reply of 27 October 2020.
