Dear Mrs Indiano,

We refer to your two requests enclosed below with the same subject dated 7 and 11 October, registered, respectively, under reference numbers GESTDEM 2021/6048 and GESTDEM 2021/6077.

We would appreciate some clarifications concerning their scope. Namely, in your first request you ask for a list (and relevant documents) of "all lobby and industry meetings and/or calls held by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation ", while in the one dated 11 October you ask specifically for meetings/calls of the European Battery Alliance.

For a matter of clarity and efficiency in processing your request(s), we would like you to clarify if your second email concerning the European Battery Alliance is to be considered as a different request or as a specification of your initial request regarding the category of lobby/industry, hence, the subject of our assessment in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.

You are kindly invited to send us clarifications within three working days, so that we can proceed to the treatment of your request(s).

Kind Regards,

Dear [email address],

In my first request I ask for a list (and relevant documents) of "all lobby and industry meetings and/or calls held by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation ", while in the one dated 11 October I ask specifically for meetings/calls of the European Battery Alliance.

Being EU countries, industry and the scientific community all members of the European Battery Alliance, I believe my second request is to be considered as a different one and not just a specification.

Yours sincerely,

Carlotta Indiano

Dear Mrs Indiano,

Thank you for email, we will then process your requests separately, as you
suggested, for lobby/industry representatives on one side and the European
Battery Alliance on the other one.

To this end, in order to identify the documents you request and pursuant
to Article 6(2) of Regulation 1049/2001, we would like to ask you further
clarification regarding the part of your requests where you express your
interest in our “Directorate General for Research and Innovation,
including any Cabinet Members and/or officials”. In particular, we would
need you to specify if you are interested in our Director General for
Research and Innovation, Mr Jean-Eric Paquet (including members of his
Office) or/and the Commissioner, Mrs Mariya Gabriel (including her Cabinet
members). In fact, "Cabinet members" are generally part of team assisting
EC Commissioners, while the teams assisting the Directors General consist
in Assistants to their Offices.

Finally, as you mention "any Cabinet members and/or Officials", we would
really appreciate if you could clarify these terms, namely if you indicate
Cabinet members and Officials as (a) synonyms or as (b) two separate
categories. In case of (b), please let us know what you mean by Officials
(managers, staff, etc.) and if you wish to have access to meetings of both
(“and”) or one category (“or”).

Please do not hesitate to send us your clarification as soon as possible
or, in any case, within three working days. The fifteen-day time-limit for
replying to the application will start to run only from the receipt of
such clarification.

Kind regards,

Dear [email address],

For the first part of your request I am interested in the team assisting EC commissioners, those ones who give political guidance to its Commissioner.

For the second request, I would indacate Cabinet members and Officials as synonyms.

Yours sincerely,

Carlotta Indiano
