Carbon label

We're waiting for Bettina Siebler to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Climate Action,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

To whom it may concern,

For our research as students of LMU Munich we are interested in the European Comission’s work on carbon dioxide reduction. Companies such as Oatly (producer of oat milk) from Sweden and Innocent (producing juice and smoothies) from Great Britain are already labelling their products or publish the environmental impact of their products online leading to great consumer response and putting pressure on competitors.
Thus, following Regulation 1049/2001 we like to request whether European Commission is or was ever in contact with lobby organisation about this topic. More specific, does the Commission have any documents or emails that include contact with companies or interest groups regarding the following topics:

1. food producing companies to label their products regarding the amount of CO2 emitted due to the product’s making, transport, packing etc.;

2. food producing companies to label their products regarding to which extent a respective product causes environmental degradation or

3. general duties of labelling consumer goods regarding their environmental impact.

Yours faithfully,

Johannes Brannath, Anika Welter, Bettina Siebler
