Dear Mr Wetzels,

We refer to your request for access to documents of 20 May 2022,
registered under the above mentioned reference number.

The description given in your application does not fully enable us to
identify concrete documents, which would correspond to your request.

We therefore invite you, in accordance with Article 6(2) of Regulation
(EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to documents, to provide us with
more detailed information on the documents you request in particular
concerning ‘a list of meetings, reports and correspondence between DG
Trade officials’ and whom exactly? Please provide details on what persons
or bodies you are referring to exactly in this context.

Once we receive your additional information, we will be able to process
your application and identify potential documents. Should your application
concern a very large number of documents, which need to be assessed
individually, we would need to get back to at a later stage as such a
detailed analysis cannot be carried out within the normal time limits set

Dear [email address],

I find this a strange reply. Since I am looking for all information about all meetings during the specified time-frame, in which DG TRADE's officials of any kind were involved, during which the ratification of CETA was mentioned or discussed, I cannot know in advance which persons, representatives or organizations these meetings would have been with. Please proceed according to my original request.

Yours sincerely,

Hans Wetzels

Dear Mr Wetzels,

We have taken note of your reply. Our understanding is that you are interested in correspondence and meetings with civil society. We will process your request on this basis, unless we hear back from you before 9 June 2022.

Dear [email address],

Your understanding is partly correct. I am interested in all correspondence and meetings DG TRADE officials had with civil society - including all representatives and/or lawyers representing the corporate sector and/or any business association, as well as all correspondence and meetings DG TRADE officials had with representatives of EU member states and/or the Canadian government. Obviously all concerning the topic and dates specified in my original request.

Yours sincerely,

Hans Wetzels

Dear Sir,

We refer to your e-mail of  20 May 2022 in which you make a request for
access to documents, registered on the same day under the above mentioned
reference number.

Your application is currently being handled. However, we will not be in a
position to complete the handling of your application within the time
limit of 15 working days, which expires on 15 June 2022.

An extended time limit is needed because of the high number of requests
currently being processed by us.

Therefore, we have to extend the time limit with 15 working days in
accordance with Article 7(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding
public access to documents. The new time limit expires on 6 July 2022.

We apologise for this delay and for any inconvenience this may cause.

expected to arrive with additional delay.

Nevertheless, the process is ongoing and we will hope to get back to you
