Consultation on the fishing opportunities for 2016 under the Common Fisheries Policy.

Waiting for an internal review by Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of their handling of this request.

Dear Maritime Affairs and Fisheries,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

The Document, Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council dated Brussels 2.6.2015, COM (2015) 239, final differs from its equivalent published in Brussels on 26.6.2014 as COM (2014) 388 final in a number of respects which cause concern. I refer particularly to Annex 1a – Scientific Advice concerning stocks in the North-East Atlantic and adjacent waters, Table 4: Differences between TACs and sustainable catches.

While the emphasis at the present time is on securing MSY, that can be variously interpreted. The methodology for doing so remains the same and it is largely through TAC/quota.

Could you please supply the Percentage excess of TAC compared to advice for fishing opportunities in 2015, or indicate where this information is to be obtained.

Many thanks,

Yours faithfully,

Edward Fahy
