Correspondance on the "trade secrets" proposal and various lobby groups

The request was partially successful.

Dear DG Internal Market and Services,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting access to the correspondence (in all forms) as well as meeting minutes (including summaries) on the subject of Trade Secrets and Confidential Business Information (in particular the preparation of the European Commission's draft Directive on the issue http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexU... ) between DG Internal Market's services, as well as Commissioner Barnier and his cabinet, and the following organisations:

- White & Case LLP
- Hogan Lovells
- Backer & McKenzie
- the Trade Secrets and Innovation Coalition (TSIC) and its members (Alstom, CEFIC, DuPont de Nemours, Michelin, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble and Solvay)
- Hill & Knowlton
- IFRA (International Fragrance Association)
- EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations)
- ECPA (European Crop Protection Association)
- Business Europe
- AFEP
- MEDEF

The time scope of my request is between January 2010 and December 1st 2013. Please exclude from this request all the contributions of these organisations to the public consultation held on the same issue as these documents are already public (http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/cons... )

Please do not hesitate to get back to me for any additional question or specification which might help you deal with my request.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Pigeon

Dear Mr Pigeon,

We refer to your request for access to documents, registered on 19/12/2014
under the above mentioned reference number.

Your application is currently being handled. However, we will not be in a
position to complete the handling of your application within the time
limit of 15 working days, which expires today (21/01/2015).

An extended time limit is necessary as your application concerns a large
number of documents, including documents from the former Cabinet of
Commissioner Barnier and, therefore, the Historical Archives of the
European Commission had to be consulted .

Therefore, we have to extend the time limit with 15 working days in
accordance with Article 7(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding
public access to documents. The new time limit expires on 11/02/2015.

We apologize for this delay and for any inconvenience this may cause.

Yours faithfully,
