Dear European External Action Service,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

I am in need of data on the deployment of naval assets used during Eunavfor Med - Operation Sophia. Most helpful would be a spreadsheet containing:
- names of the surface vessels
- months and year of deployment in Operation Sophia
- Persons rescued per month

Thank you in advance!

Yours faithfully,
Lukas Schulze-Rohr

Dear European External Action Service,

Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Deployment of surface vessels during Eunavfor Med - Operation Sophia'.

I find it hard to grasp that I am redirected to social media posts on Facebook after asking for systematic information on the deployment of surface vessels. Additionally, I already engaged in some attempts to get information from Eunavfor Med social media and quickly realized that the information provided there is not satisfying as e.g. in case of multiple deployments of certain vessels, exact dates of prior deployment were not posted. This just conveys that there is no conclusive overview of which vessels got deployed and when. Both in terms of transparency as well support for relevant research this is deeply unsatisfying. Same goes for the fact that concerning my request for MONTHLY rescue data I got sent to a website that offers the TOTAL number of people rescued.

I am a bit puzzled by the response as it falls short of any actual response to my request and merely refers me to websites that get listed first when googling for information. For that I didn’t need to request data and wait for a month. I would greatly appreciate it, if you could review my request.

Kind regards, Lukas
