Dear Frontex,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

After one year of the EU-Turkey deal to tackle the migrant crisis which formally come into effect the 20th March 2016, I would like to know in how many operations at sea Frontex has assisted Greece in the readmission process with detail of:

-Number of returnees per operation assisted by Frontex.
-Date of the assistance
-Cost of the assistance return operation
-Company in charge of the return operation
-Nationalities of the returnees
-Ages of the returnees

As part of this deal, and if you have this information, I would like to know, how many asylum seekers in Turkey have found a home in Europe in exchange with detail of:

-Date of the asylum approval
-Nationalities of the returnees
-Ages of the returnees
-EU destination country of the asylum seeker

If any of the data is not available, I ask for the information as you have it in your databases in order to avoid any extra work.

I would prefer to receive the information in electronic form. This is a right under Regulation 1049/2001 if the information exists in that format.

Yours faithfully,

Adrián

Dear Adrián,

Thank you for contacting us.

First of all, it has to be stressed that the decision as to who can be
returned is the exclusive responsibility of the authorities (judicial or
administrative) of the individual EU member states and Frontex does not
have the mandate to enter into the merit of return decisions.

In case of readmissions, it is therefore the Greek authorities who are
entirely in charge of the process. All persons to be readmitted have to
undergo an individual decision-making process in full accordance with EU-
and international law. Only once this process is completed, Frontex can
support the Greek authorities by providing transportation and escort
officers to accompany the persons.

Since the readmission operation is coordinated between the Greek and
Turkish authorities as part of the EU/Turkey statement, Frontex cannot
provide any information on the nationalities or age of the returnees.  We
suggest that you refer your questions to the Greek authorities.

You can read more about this process in the Frequently Asked Questions on
our website
[1]http://frontex.europa.eu/pressroom/faq/f...

Since the entry into force of the EU-Turkey Statement, Frontex has carried
out 45 return operations, with more than 1020 returned persons. The price
of each operation varies and depends on the distance and type of
transportation used (boat or aircraft).

Since Frontex is not involved in resettlement of refugees from Turkey to
the individual EU Member States, we suggest you contact the European
Commission for latest data.

In case of additional questions, please contact [email address]

Yours faithfully,

Frontex Press Office
