Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,

Thank you for your reply. I noticed in Commissioner Katainen's public list of meetings that he met with Goldman Sachs representatives to discuss " Trade and defence policy" on the 25 October 2017.

Yet, there is no document relating to this encounter in your list. Could you please verify if there are any any emails, correspondence, meeting notes or telephone call notes from the list you sent me?

Yours faithfully,

Margarida da Silva

Margarida da Silva

Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,

Thank you for your reply. I find it surprising that there are no documents relating to this meeting - particularly, no meeting notes or telephone call notes.

After all, it is good administrative practice to keep records of all meetings with interest representatives, but especially when dealing with lobby organisations which could create reputational issues, one can say, as Goldman Sachs. This precaution is even inscribed in the Practical Guide to Staff Ethics and Conduct.

Could you please confirm if there are any meeting or telephone call notes relating to it?

Yours faithfully,

Margarida da Silva

Dear Ms Da Silva,

I am writing in response to your email of 19 January 2017 related to your
access to documents request - Exchanges with Goldman Sachs – GESTDEM
2017/6225. In this email, you sought confirmation of the fact that  there
were no meeting or telephone call notes related to Vice-President
Katainen's meeting with Goldman Sachs representatives on 25 October 2017
dedicated to " Trade and defence policy".

After verifying again with the Cabinet of the Vice-President, we can
confirm that there exist no meeting or telephone call notes or any other
document related to this meeting of 25 October 2017.

Thank you for your understanding.

With best regards,

Karola Maxianova
