Faults in the function of the EU's ETS
Dear DG Climate Action,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents pertaining to the following information:
1. How much emissions allowances registered either by national institutions or by the European Union have been stolen since 2005 in EUR?
2. How much money in EUR has been lost as a result of VAT-related fraud in emissions trading?
3. How many Co2 emissions in kg. (Co2-eq) have been saved as a result of the EU ETS since 2005?
4. How much money in EUR has been allocated to corporate entities registered in the EU under the EU ETS as a result of their participation and/or contribution to the scheme since 2005?
With specification to the last question, we would also like to inquire as to how many of the companies who benefited from the EU ETS since 2005 were companies involved in the sale and/or production of hydrocarbons (oil, coal and gas) and/or the generation of electricity thereof.
If the Directorate-General for Climate Action does not presently possess any related documents, kindly relay us to another European institution that may have them.
Best regards,
Alexander Borg
