G24 EU & International Law, European Police Office

Dear Mr Nielsen,

Europol has searched and identified one document (below) possibly falling within the scope of your request:

EDOC-#731338-v5-RWE_-_Half_year_Situationreport_-_1st_semester_2014.DOC

In accordance with Article 4(1)(a) of the Management Board Decision laying down the rules concerning access to Europol documents, access to a document or to parts of it shall be refused where disclosure would undermine the protection of the public interest as regards the proper fulfilment of Europol’s tasks as well as investigations and operational activities of Member States, third parties or EU bodies. The report, also based on findings from EU Member States, contains information on law enforcement modus operandi and investigative strategies. Therefore Europol has decided to refuse access to the document as its disclosure would undermine the protection of the above-mentioned public interests due to the sensitivity, strategic and operational nature of the information contained which would hinder the current and future operational effectiveness of Europol and national law enforcement activities, risk breaching the trust of Europol’s partners and causing prejudice to the cooperation relations which is essential for Europol to properly fulfil its tasks.

Please note that you may make a confirmatory application asking Europol to reconsider its position within 30 working days of receiving Europol’s reply.

Thank you for showing interest in our organisation.

Kind regards,

G24 – EU & International Law
