The request was partially successful.

Dear PAD,
thank you for your replay.
I can better specify the point n. 2 as follow:
1) MSs participating to the JO and host State(s);
2) Sector of the border in which the operation is carried out (I don't want to know the exact position of the operation, but the bordering nation: e.g. the Greek-Albanian border);
3)Team members duties;
4) estimated period of the operations;
5)Technical equipment;
6)A copy of the agreement with the relevant authority of Albania allowing Frontex to operate in his territory.
I hope this list could be sufficiently precise. If not, don't hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Giulio Occhiuto

Dear Mr Occhiuto,

Frontex Press Office will reply to your questions related to the Joint
Operation Western Balkans 2019 in Albania.

On 22 May 2019, the agency launched its first operation outside the EU at
the land border between Albania and Greece. This annual operation was
launched at the request of Albanian authorities to support them with
border management.

Following countries participate in the operation: Austria, Croatia,
Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia,
Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Slovenia. They provide
technical equipment such as patrol cars, thermovision vans, binoculars and
goggles, equipment to detect fraudulent documents. They also support the
operation by sending officers including border surveillance officers,
document experts, screening and debriefing experts, stolen vehicles
detection experts, interpreters and cultural mediators. Before Frontex can
launch an operation in a country neighbouring the EU, a Status Agreement
signed between the EU and the respective non-EU country needs to be in
place. The Status Agreement on border cooperation between the EU and
Albania became operational on 1 May 2019 and is the first agreement on
operational cooperation to be signed with a neighbouring non-EU country.
For more information about the Status Agreement please contact the
Spokespersons Service of the European Commission.

Should you need more information don’t hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

Frontex Press Office Team
