List of Lawyers who were pleading before the EU Courts (Court of Justice and General Court) as required in Article 19 since 2009
Dear European Court of Justice,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
A list of all Lawyers best with contact information who were pleading before the EU Courts (Court of Justice and General Court) since 2009. If possible including the date, case number and the description of the case would be helpful. Maybe the language of the hearing and/or where the case was coming from.
This list should also include the EU employed lawyers from the legal service department etc for further analysis.
(People say it is very difficult to find an affordable lawyer for this courts; to get this information I cannot go through all counts decisions and for sure there must be a list).
Yours faithfully,
Klaus Zinser
Dear Mr. Zinser,
In response to your request for access to documents, I regret to inform you that the Court of Justice holds no document containing the names of all the lawyers who have appeared before this Court in previous years.
Please note that, as stated in Article 19, of the Statute of the Court of Justice, any lawyer "authorised to practise before a court of a Member State or of another State which is a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area may represent or assist a party before the Court". The names of the lawyers who were pleading in specific cases are cited in the introductory parts of the corresponding judgments.
Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the Regulation 1049/2001 does not apply to the Court of Justice. The Court is bound by the its own Decision of 11 December 2012 concerning public access to documents held by the Court of Justice of the European Union in the exercise of its administrative functions. You will find this decision on the Eur-lex website:
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/e...
All requests for access to documents should be made via a form which is available on the Court's website:
http://curia.europa.eu/jcms/jcms/P_184871/
Should you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Katarzyna Sztranc-Slawiczek
