Meetings between EEAS and UAE officials

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, European External Action Service should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear European External Action Service,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

1) A list of meetings of European External Action Service officials with representatives of the UAE, including UAE government officials (or their representatives), the UAE Embassy to the EU (incl. the Ambassador, incl. their representatives), as well as employees and/or consultants working for lobby and/or consultancy and/or PR firms where the UAE is a client, which took place between 1 January 2012 until 15 July 2021;

2) Agendas, minutes and other reports of these meetings;

3) All correspondence between European External Action Service officials and with representatives of the UAE, including UAE government officials (or their representatives), the UAE Embassy to the EU (incl. the Ambassador, incl. their representatives), as well as employees and/or consultants working for lobby and/or consultancy and/or PR firms where the UAE is a client. This could include but is not limited to, e-mails, text messages, basis documents, memos or drafts.

This request extends to any information that the EEAS holds in relation any of the above points, including information that may have been deemed short-lived or unimportant.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Meetings between EEAS and UAE officials'.

My initial request was submitted to you on 21 July 2021. Since then, the deadline for responding to my request has been extended several times. Despite the notification on the 1st of September that my request would be handled 'as quickly as possible', I have yet to receive a response. Please note that I understand there may have been some delays due to the pandemic, however, I hereby kindly ask you to provide the requested information as soon as possible.
