Meetings between Soros Family and EU Commission Members

We're waiting for Klaus Zinser to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

As there are serious questions why EU authorities should meet with George Soros, his family members and Soros funded organisations like the Open Society Foundation I would like to know:

(1) The legal rules why the EU authorities talk to Soros and organisations partially or totally funded from Soros or Soros Sub-organisations ?
(2) All appointments in detail (time/date schedule with the people who joined) who have taken place with George Soros an/or his family members.
(3) All appointments between Soros funded organisations and EU Commission members.

It seems data given on integritywatch.eu is incorrect.

Yours faithfully,

K. Zinser

Secretariat General of the European Commission

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your request for access to documents.

Unfortunately you have not indicated your postal address that is required for registering and handling your request in line with the procedural requirements. Please send us your full postal address at your earliest convenience.

You may, of course, use directly the electronic form for entering your request:
[1]http://ec.europa.eu/transparency/regdoc/...

Pending your reply, we reserve the right to refuse the registration of your request.

In your e-mail of 29/04/2018, you request the following:

(1) The legal rules why the EU authorities talk to Soros and organisations partially or totally funded from Soros or Soros Sub-organisations ?
(2) All appointments in detail (time/date schedule with the people who joined) who have taken place with George Soros an/or his family members.
(3) All appointments between Soros funded organisations and EU Commission members.

Under point (1), you introduce a request under the Code of Good Administrative Behaviour, namely ‘The legal rules why the EU authorities talk to Soros and organisations partially or totally funded from Soros or Soros Sub-organisations’. As this part of your request is not based on Regulation 1049/2001, it will not be addressed in the context of an access to document request.

Under points (2) and (3), the description given in your application does not enable us to identify concrete documents, which would correspond to your request. In particular, the terms ‘family members’, as well as ‘Soros funded organisations’ do not allow the Commission services to perform the necessary search for documents falling within the scope of your request.

We therefore invite you, pursuant to Article 6(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to documents, to provide us with more detailed information on the documents which you seek to obtain, by listing concretely the ‘family members’ and the ‘Soros funded organisations’ you refer to.

You have lodged your application via the AsktheEU.org website. Please note that this is a private website which has no link with any institution of the European Union. Therefore the European Commission cannot be held accountable for any technical issues or problems linked to the use of this system.

Please note also that the European Commission is not responsible for any possible processing of personal data by the private organisation running the AsktheEU.org website, through which you have channelled your request. Please refer to their privacy policy.

Yours faithfully,
