Meetings with stakeholders on Brexit

The request was partially successful.

Dear Taxation and Customs Union,

- minutes of all lobby meetings held by DG TAXUD, since 24 June 2016 on Brexit and the article 50 negotiations on the UK's exit from the EU.

- any correspondence with lobbyists held by DG TAXUD, since 24 June 2016 on Brexit and the article 50 negotiations on the UK's exit from the EU.

My address is:

Dear Taxation and Customs Union,

Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Meetings with stakeholders on Brexit'.

The request for minutes and correspondence related to meetings between TAXUD and lobbyists on the topic of Brexit was rejected on the grounds that "These documents include opinions and evidence raised by third parties, which represent knowhow and commercial data of the organisations."

However, as the only meeting identified was with the European Travel Retail Confederation, which while representing companies, is itself is a non-profit organisation and has no direct commercial interests, this should not be acceptable grounds on which to refuse.

The request was also rejected on the grounds that 'the documents contain the names of individuals, which are protected by Union legislation regarding the protection of personal data". However, the document could be released with the names expunged.

Therefore TAXUD should release redacted minutes.

A full history of my request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.asktheeu.org/en/request/meet...

Yours faithfully,

Pascoe Sabido
