Meetings with US Officials on Farm to Fork

Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Agriculture and Rural Development,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

On the topic of the Sustainable Productivity Growth Coalition, Aim4C, Farm to Fork or the Sustainable Use of Pesticides directive, all correspondence, including emails which mention, and any study, impact assessment, forecast, paper or other document received from any of the following individuals (listed below) during the previous 12 months. This includes inter-institutional correspondence, correspondence with Member States’ authorities and their Permanent Representations as well as correspondence with third parties.

AND

On the topic of Sustainable Productivity Growth Coalition, Aim4C, Farm to Fork or the Sustainable Use of Pesticides directive, all agendas and minutes of meetings; attendees of meetings; details of the locations of meetings; presentation slides used, and any other materials shared or used (e.g. briefings, leaflets), including in preparation and after the meetings took place, with any of the following individuals (listed below) during the previous 12 months.

Relevant individuals:
US Secretary of Agriculture
USDA Chief Economist
Director for Sustainable Development for USDA
Director of Office of Energy and Environmental Policy in Office of the Chief Economist, USDA
Director of the Office of Pest Management Policy (OPMP), USDA
US Deputy Secretary of Agriculture
US Ambassador to the European Union
Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Mission to the European Union

If this request is too broad, please do let me know. I would be open to advice on how to make this request workable for you within the given time period.

I would like to receive this information electronically.

I would like to make clear I prefer you produce the documents on a rolling basis. At no point should the Commission's search for—or deliberations concerning—certain documents delay the production of others that the Commission has already retrieved and elected to produce.

Should my request be denied wholly or partially, please explain the denial or all deletions referring to specific exemptions in the regulation. Also I would expect the partial release of documents in case of partial exemption according to article 4.6. I reserve the right to appeal.

Please confirm having received this application. I look forward to your reply within 15 business days, according to the regulation.

If anything is unclear or would benefit from further discussion please do not hesitate to contact me.

With thanks,
Clare Carlile

Dear Agriculture and Rural Development,

This FOI request was legally overdue in December 2022. Could you provide an update as to the status of this request? I plan to submit a request for an internal review in the coming days if no response is received.

Dear Ms Carlile,

Could you please clarify which request you refer to? You had made a request on 10/10/2022, reformulated on 2/11/2023, which was registered with reference number case 2022/5893.

We had replied to this request on 29/11/2022 (please see attachment) and you had acknowledged receipt (please see second attachment). We do not see in the system any other request coming from you around the same period. Had you introduced a second request with the same subject? If yes, had you received an acknowledgment of receipt?

Thank you in advance for your clarification.

Yours sincerely,
AGRI Access Documents Team
