European Data Protection Board

Dear Mr. Kinnaird,

Thank you for your information request and your interest in data protection.

The EDPB is an independent European body with legal personality that contributes to the consistent application of data protection rules throughout the European Union and promotes cooperation between supervisory authorities. The EDPB is composed of the heads of the Supervisory Authorities (SA) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) or their representatives.
In the EDPB, the SAs in the European Union work together to:
• provide general guidance (including guidelines, opinions, recommendations and best practices) on data protection law, specifically the GDPR;
• advise the European Commission on any issue related to the protection of personal data and new proposed legislation in the European Union;
• adopt consistency decisions and opinions in cross-border data protection cases.

Unfortunately, the EDPB is not in a position to respond to specific questions concerning the application of the data protection framework in a given country.

However, you may find it useful to consult the website of the ICO available at https://ico.org.uk/or
contact the ICO's Norther Ireland Office: https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/who-we-...

Should you have any further questions with regard to the EDPS Reference Library publication that you are referring to, you are advised to contact the EDPS at the link below: https://edps.europa.eu/about-edps/contac....

Kind regards,
The EDPB Secretariat
