Dear European Research Council Executive Agency,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

I would like to know how many individuals that were affected by the hiatus between the UK and the EU over the association of the UK to Horizon Europe have moved to their ERC grant to the European Union?

I would like this to be broken down by Horizon Work Package year, i.e. the number of individual applicants in the rounds for 2021, 2022, and 2023 and broken down by the type of grant (Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant and Advanced Grant) .

This information should further be broken down by the country in which the grant would ultimately be hosted.

Further, I would like to know the number of individuals that were affected -- but may not have moved their grant to Europe -- in the rounds for 2021, 2022, and 2023 and broken down by the type of grant (Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant and Advanced Grant).

An individual would be considered as affected if they were successful in their application for an EU grant (main list as well as reserve list) from a UK based host institution and/or was winning their

The underlying data should be supplied in this format:

Affected individuals by year and grant type
Individuals that moved their grant from the UK to Europe by year and grant type

Taken together this would amount to at least 18 numbers
- 3 grant types
- 3 years
- two types of data series capturing
a) the number of individuals affected
b) the number of affected individuals that moved their grant to Europe

The latter number b) should ideally be broken down by the country in which the grant ultimately would be hosted.

Yours faithfully,

Thiemo Fetzer
