Number of migrants casualties
Dear European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders (FRONTEX),
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
Number of refugees who died at, along or in the proximity of, the external borders, including the date, location and description of each incident. In accordance with article 4.1.b of regulation 1049/2001, the names of the deceased individuals is not part of the request.
Article 3b and chapter II of Regulation 1052/2013 explicitely states that Eurosur is tasked with "reduc[ing the] loss of lives of migrants at, along or in the proximity of, the external borders."
Furthermore, the European Commission stated in a public statement that such data existed and was collected by Frontex. See it here: https://twitter.com/EUHomeAffairs/status...
Yours faithfully,
Nicolas Kayser-Bril
