Dear Martina Tombini,            

I refer to your recently submitted request for information, made under the
terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2014, in which you requested the
following:

I kindly request access to any document in your possession on the position
of the Irish government on the amendments proposed by the European
Parliament on 10 March 2021 on the EU fisheries control Regulation.

I am specifically interested in the amendments to articles 93 and 113 to
of Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009 - the EU Fisheries Control Regulation,
which are currently being discussed in trilogue negotiations between the
European Parliament, Council and Commission.

I am requesting documents, including emails and meeting minutes, that
include information on the position of the Irish government on the above.

Colm Ó Súilleabháin will be the officer handling your request. Mr Ó
Súilleabháin can be contacted by telephone on +3222823374 should you have
any questions or concerns regarding your request.

Your request was received in this office on 12^th October 2021. A final
decision on your request would normally be sent to you within 4 weeks,
where a week is defined as 5 working days excluding the weekend and public
holidays.  This means that you can expect a letter of reply to issue by
9^th November 2021.

Should our final decision not reach you on time, please feel free to
contact us to discuss any problems that may have arisen.

If you have not heard from us once the allotted time has expired, you are
entitled to appeal to this Department for a review of the matter.  This
review proceeds on the legal basis that the initial request is considered
to be refused once the specified time for responding to it has expired. 

The review is a full and new examination of the matter carried out by a
more senior member of staff of this Department.

In the event that you need to make such an appeal, you can do so by
writing to the Freedom of Information Unit, 76-78 Harcourt Street, Dublin
2. You should state that you are appealing because an initial decision was
not sent to you within the time permitted.  In that event, you would
normally have 20 working days (after the initial decision should have been
sent to you) in which to make the appeal.  This Department will, however,
allow the appeal to be made late in appropriate circumstances.

You may wish to note also that Freedom of Information requests, other than
requests for personal information, submitted to the Department of Foreign
Affairs will be placed on the Departmental website, [3]www.dfa.ie.  This
enables the public to openly and transparently see the workings of the
Freedom of Information Act in the Department.  Requests and releases
referring to personal information will, of course, be exempted from the
process.
